President John Dramani Mahama is expected to officially open Ghana’s first large-scale agricultural technology exhibition as government intensifies efforts to modernise the country’s agribusiness sector and deepen agro-industrial growth.

The three-day event, dubbed the Ghana Agricultural and Agro-Processing Industrial Technology Fair (Ghana Agrotech Fair 2026), will run from 17 to 19 March at the Independence Square.

The exhibition is being organised by the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry in collaboration with the Ghana Export-Import Bank as part of a broader strategy to promote export-led industrialisation and introduce innovation-driven solutions into Ghana’s agricultural sector.

Held under the theme “Transforming Agribusiness through Local Innovation and Technology,” the fair will highlight locally engineered farming equipment, agro-processing machinery and emerging technologies designed to boost agricultural productivity while strengthening value addition.

President Mahama will open the fair together with the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, and the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana EXIM Bank, Sylvester Adinam Mensah.

The participation of the country’s top political and economic leadership is expected to underline government’s ambition to build a competitive agricultural economy powered by technology, innovation and export growth.

The organisers say the fair will serve as a meeting point for actors across the entire agricultural value chain, including manufacturers of farm equipment, agritech developers, farmers, fishers, agro-processors, exporters, investors and policymakers.

In a social media post ahead of the event, Mensah said the initiative is intended to spotlight home-grown technological solutions within Ghana’s agriculture and agro-processing industries.

“The maiden Ghana Agricultural and Agro-Processing Industrial Technology Fair (GHANA AGROTECH FAIR 2026) is a flagship platform designed to spotlight Ghana’s locally manufactured agricultural machinery, implements, agro-processing equipment, and cutting-edge technologies,” he stated.

He added that the event will also create opportunities for collaboration among key players within the sector.

“The Fair brings together key actors across the entire agricultural value chain — including manufacturers, technology developers, farmers, fishers, processors, exporters, investors, and policymakers — to connect, exchange ideas, and unlock practical solutions.”

The exhibition will feature product showcases, technical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at introducing participants to modern agricultural technologies and agro-processing systems.

Participants are also expected to engage in policy dialogues, specialised masterclasses and business networking sessions designed to link innovation with commercial opportunities.

According to the organisers, visitors will be exposed to a range of technologies including digital agriculture tools, modern packaging systems, sustainable production technologies and advanced agro-processing equipment.

The initiative forms part of government’s wider agenda to modernise agriculture, reduce reliance on imported food products and expand Ghana’s agro-processing capacity to compete in both regional and global markets.

Mensah emphasised the transformative ambitions behind the fair, stating that the initiative has been designed to unlock investment and stimulate innovation across the agricultural sector.

“Agrotech Fair 2026 is purpose-built to catalyse investment, drive innovation, and accelerate agro-industrial transformation for sustainable growth and jobs.”

The event is open to the public, particularly farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, farmer-based organisations, universities, technical institutions, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, investors and agritech companies seeking opportunities within Ghana’s agricultural industry.

The fair also forms part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the Ghana Export-Import Bank, the state-owned financial institution established to support export trade and industrial expansion in Ghana.
