The newly elected Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Tamale Central, Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, has submitted his nomination form to the EC to contest the area’s by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Prof. Seidu secured a landslide victory over eleven (11) contenders in the election held at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday, 6 September 2025.

He polled 840 votes out of a total of 1,511, with his closest challenger, Abdul Hannan Gundado, securing 536 votes.

Meanwhile, the Tamale Metro EC Director, Anaba Samson, disclosed that at least four other candidates — representing the All People’s Congress (APC), Liberal Party of Ghana, People’s National Convention (PNC), and an Independent candidate — have picked forms to contest the seat, but have yet to submit to register their interest to contest.Ghanaian Cultural Tours

The closing date for submission of nominations is Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

The Tamale Central parliamentary seat became vacant following the demise of the MP, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, who died in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
