NPP directs members to halt media discussions that breed disaffection

Accra, March 20, 2025 – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to all its members, instructing them to refrain from discussing internal party issues in the media, particularly those that foster discontent and division within the party.

In an official statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress among its members following its defeat in the last election.

The party, however, urged its faithful to remain calm and avoid public expressions of frustration that could further damage its unity.

“As an officer of the Party, mandated by the Party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the Party, please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read.

The directive also referenced Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which calls on members to defend and promote the good name of the NPP.

It further warned that any member who violates the directive would be referred to the appropriate disciplinary committees at the national, regional, or constituency level.

The statement comes amid growing public discussions by some NPP members regarding the party’s electoral defeat.

Some have openly criticized the leadership, while others have called for structural reforms to reposition the party ahead of future elections.

Despite these tensions, the NPP’s leadership is urging members to focus on rebuilding a stronger and more united front as the party looks toward the future.
