Workers of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited have called on management to honor its commitments to resolve issues of unpaid salaries and improve conditions of service.
On Tuesday, the aggrieved employees staged a protest at the company’s premises in Accra to press home their demands, citing prolonged delays despite repeated assurances from management.
Speaking to Citi Business News, Kingsley Sape, Chairman of the Senior Staff Association, described the growing frustration among workers.
“There are a lot of issues that are unresolved, management have removed the transport allowance without any prior consultation,”he said.
“For sometime now we have also not received our thirteenth month bonuses. Our salaries keep delaying. Our SSNIT is in arrears as well as our provident fund,” he added.
This is not the first time workers of the state enterprise have taken to the streets in protest.
A similar incident occurred in 2023 when employees demanded the settlement of unpaid wages and accused the Management of mismanagement.
Recently, the Ghana Industrial Holding Corporation (GIHOC) has been in the spotlight over claims of an alleged sale of the Aboso Glass Factory.
However, the National Distilleries Company has firmly denied these allegations.
