The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted two watchmen of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School over an alleged sexual assault involving a special needs student of the school.
According to the GES, the two suspects have also been handed over to the Police for further investigation.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the GES said preliminary reports indicate that the student is a special needs student who is on medication.
The Service said the student reportedly suffered a relapse on the day of the incident and required medical attention, during which the alleged assault occurred.
“Thorough investigations into the matter are currently ongoing,” the GES said.
It added that appropriate sanctions would be applied in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana, depending on the outcome of the investigations.
The GES has also cautioned all staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every student.
“Management further cautions that the Service will not tolerate any conduct that compromises the safety and wellbeing of students,” the statement said.
The Service assured parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
