A recent survey by Global InfoAnalytics reveals that Ghanaians broadly support several recommendations in the Constitutional Review Commission’s report, released earlier this month.
The poll, published on Monday, 29 December 2025, shows that a majority of voters favour extending the presidential term from four to five years, with 57 percent in approval and 36 percent opposed. The remaining 7 percent said they were undecided or had no opinion.
Another significant proposal, which seeks to bar members of parliament from holding ministerial positions, also enjoys strong public endorsement. According to the survey, 58 percent of respondents support the change, while 32 percent are against it. About 10 percent said they had no opinion on the matter.
Public sentiment is equally positive regarding the recommendation to lower the minimum age requirement to run for president. The poll found that 55 percent of voters favour reducing the age threshold, compared with 35 percent who disapprove, while 10 percent remained neutral.
Global InfoAnalytics conducted the poll between 1 and 21 December 2025, using a mixed-method approach that combined web-based questionnaires, telephone interviews, and face-to-face interviews. A total of 13,495 voters from across Ghana were surveyed.
The findings provide valuable insight into public attitudes on constitutional reforms and suggest broad citizen support for measures aimed at enhancing political accountability and inclusivity.
