The Anbariya Sunni Community has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for his bold decision to reduce the cost of the 2025 Hajj fares.

In a letter dated February 7, 2025, signed by its leader and director, Sheikh Saeed Abubakar Zakariya, the community praised the president for his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his promise to the Muslim community.

According to the statement, the reduction in Hajj fares has brought significant relief and joy to the Muslim population across Ghana.

The Anbariya Sunni Community described the gesture as compassionate, reflecting the president’s dedication to improving the well-being of Muslims in the country.

“This compassionate gesture not only demonstrates your dedication to the well-being of the Muslim population but also strengthens the trust and respect we have for your leadership,” the statement read.

The community also acknowledged and applauded President Mahama’s efforts in considering the interests of the Muslim population in his policies and decisions.

Additionally, they offered prayers for the president’s health, wisdom, and continued success in governing the nation, while seeking Allah’s blessings for peace and prosperity in Ghana under his leadership.

The statement concluded by expressing the community’s hope for a stronger bond between the government and the Muslim population in Ghana under President Mahama’s stewardship.

The reduction of Hajj fares comes at a time when many Ghanaians have been grappling with economic challenges.

This decision has been widely welcomed by Muslims, as it eases the financial burden on families planning to perform the pilgrimage, a significant pillar of the Islamic faith.

The Anbariya Sunni Community’s commendation reflects the broader appreciation among the Muslim population for the government’s recognition of their spiritual obligations and its efforts to facilitate their fulfillment.
