Yendi – The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has inspected the ongoing construction of the new Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, expressing satisfaction with the progress of work and reaffirming government’s support for the project.
During the visit, the Minister underscored the importance of the palace to the cultural and historical identity of the Dagbon kingdom, describing the redevelopment as a “monumental legacy” that will strengthen the region’s traditional institutions and boost local pride.
The progress made so far is commendable. This project is not only about physical infrastructure—it is about preserving a rich heritage that unites the people of Dagboncthe Minister said.
As a show of commitment, the Minister announced a personal donation toward the construction, which he promised to make by Friday. The contribution, he noted, is intended to complement the efforts of other stakeholders who have supported the palace’s redevelopment.
The Gbewaa Palace redevelopment is a major cultural initiative aimed at restoring and modernizing the seat of the Dagbon kingdom.
The project has attracted broad support from traditional authorities, government officials, and individuals within the Dagbon community and beyond.
When completed, the new palace is expected to serve not only as the residence of the Yaa Naa but also as a symbol of unity, tradition, and progress for the Dagbon people.
