Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will be out for eight weeks after picking up an injury in Saturday’s 3-2 home victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The development rules the Ghanaian international out of November’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Somalia, leaving the Black Stars without the forward for both fixtures.
Maresca says Semenyo is expected to return in December and believes having him back will feel like a new signing.
The injury interrupts a campaign in which Semenyo has made eight starts for City across all competitions. He now faces a spell away from the pitch, with his attention turning to recovery before returning to action.
For Ghana, the setback means preparations for the Somalia games must continue without Semenyo. His absence takes away an attacking option at a time when the Black Stars are looking ahead to their next qualifying assignment.
The eight-week layoff also means there will be no quick return for the forward following the Ipswich game, despite City coming away with all three points.
