John Boadu has pledged to rebuild the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the grassroots and restore its winning machinery as he begins his tenure as the party’s newly elected National Chairman.
Mr Boadu, who secured 2,888 votes at the party’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, said the new leadership would prioritise unity, consultation and stronger party structures ahead of the 2028 general election.
Delivering his acceptance speech after his election, Mr Boadu described his victory as a responsibility and called on all contestants to work together for the party.
“Today is not merely a day of victory. It is a day of responsibility and of great unity. I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and humility,” he said.
He extended an invitation to his opponents to contribute their ideas, experience and networks to the development of the NPP.
“There must be no winners and losers. Only one NPP united around one purpose,” he said.
Mr Boadu said his administration would work closely with regional and constituency executives, Members of Parliament, party patrons, external branches and other organised groups to strengthen the party.
He also pledged to deepen the NPP’s engagement with voluntary groups, social media practitioners and the traditional media, while creating greater opportunities for young people and promoting leadership development in tertiary institutions.
The newly elected chairman said the party would also work closely with its flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the national leadership to strengthen its organisational and financial foundations, particularly at the constituency level.
He stressed that victory in the 2028 election could not be taken for granted and must be earned through service, organisation, credibility and the trust of Ghanaians.
“Political victory is never an entitlement. It must be earned through service, organisation, credibility, and the trust of the Ghanaian people. That is why our preparation begins now,” he said.
Mr Boadu called for a renewed focus on grassroots organisation, youth empowerment, support for women and engagement with professionals, traditional leaders and religious leaders.
He further urged party members to prioritise unity and service over personal ambitions.
“So I make this commitment: we will serve the New Patriotic Party with humility, lead through consultation, work with every part of our party and dedicate this mandate to restoring the winning machinery of our great party,” he said.
Mr Boadu concluded by assuring party supporters of victory in 2028.
“JB and his executives are back again. Victory is assured in the year 2028,” he said.
