At least seven vehicles have been burnt following an accident involving a fuel tanker in the early hours of Saturday, February 14, on the Nsawam–Accra highway.
Preliminary reports indicate that a collision involving the tanker triggered the blaze, with the impact causing it to ignite.
Thick smoke was seen billowing from the scene, drawing concern from motorists and nearby residents.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are at the scene working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
No casualties have been reported so far, although emergency responders are continuing to assess the situation.
The incident has caused significant traffic disruption along the busy stretch, with motorists advised to exercise extreme caution and consider alternative routes while firefighting and recovery operations continue.
