Coach Carlos Queiroz has mutually agreed to part ways with the Ghana football association, barely weeks into his second spell in charge of the Black Stars.
The decision brings an abrupt end to Queiroz’s return to the national team, with the Ghana football association expected to begin the search for a new head coach as attention turns to the team’s upcoming assignments.
Queiroz leaves with a difficult record from his seven matches in charge of the Black Stars. Ghana managed only one victory, suffered four defeats and drew the remaining two games during his time at the helm.
The Black Stars scored five goals under the Portuguese coach but conceded 10, highlighting the defensive and attacking concerns that characterised his brief tenure.
A particularly damaging moment came in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, where Queiroz became the first Black Stars coach to concede four goals in an AFCON qualifier. The result intensified scrutiny around the team’s defensive structure and the coach’s ability to reverse Ghana’s poor run of form.
His departure means the Black Stars will once again begin preparations under a new technical direction, at a time when supporters are demanding a return to consistency, stronger performances and improved results.
The GFA is yet to announce a replacement or provide further details on the process to appoint the next Black Stars gaffer.
