The Surinamese Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, is set to headline the 2026 Communication and Media Studies Students’ Association Festival (COMSSAFEST) Seminar, scheduled for Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the School of Communication and Media Studies (SCMS) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

The annual festival is expected to bring together students, faculty members, communication professionals, educators, cultural enthusiasts, and other stakeholders for a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity, dialogue, and learning.

COMSSAFEST 2026 will showcase a rich blend of music, dance, fashion, cuisine, and artistic expressions from various cultural backgrounds, providing participants with an opportunity to appreciate and promote intercultural understanding.

The participation of the Surinamese Ambassador is expected to add an international dimension to the event, underscoring the growing cultural and diplomatic relations between Ghana and Suriname.

Held under the theme, “Connecting Minds, Amplifying Voices, Creating the Future,” this year’s seminar will explore the historical, cultural, and communication links between Ghana and Suriname.

Discussions will focus on the role of storytelling, media, cultural diplomacy, and heritage preservation in strengthening international cooperation and promoting global citizenship.

As keynote speaker, Ambassador Graand-Galon is expected to share insights on cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and opportunities for collaboration in areas such as education, trade, tourism, and the creative arts.

According to organizers, the Ambassador’s participation marks a significant milestone for the festival and reflects COMSSAFEST’s commitment to fostering meaningful global engagement through culture and communication.

Beyond the cultural displays and entertainment, organizers emphasize that the festival serves as a strategic platform for promoting cultural diplomacy, strengthening international partnerships, and creating opportunities for educational and professional development.
