The Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Suhuyini, has inspected ongoing road projects under the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative in Tamale, urging contractors to speed up work to meet the project timelines.
Leading a delegation on a tour of the project sites, the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of completing the projects within the stipulated 24-month period to enhance road connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the Northern Region.

Hon. Suhuyini explained that the road projects form part of the government’s broader Big Push agenda aimed at accelerating infrastructure development across the country.
During the inspection, he also addressed concerns regarding compensation for landowners whose properties fall within the alignment of the Tamale ring road.

According to him, funds will soon be released to facilitate the payment of compensation and support preparations for resettlement.
He therefore appealed to affected residents to cooperate with authorities and vacate the designated areas once their compensation packages are paid to enable contractors to proceed with the work without delays.
The Deputy Minister, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work by some contractors handling sections of the Tamale ring road project and urged them to intensify their efforts to ensure the project stays on schedule.
The Northern Regional Minister, John Ali Adolf, who accompanied the Deputy Minister on the inspection tour, said the construction of the Tamale ring road under the Big Push programme will significantly improve transportation and boost economic activities in the region.

He noted that the project is expected to ease traffic congestion in the metropolis while creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and development in the Northern Region.
