The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged party members to prioritise hardworking branch executives without government appointments in the party’s upcoming internal elections.
The NDC is scheduled to hold its National Congress on December 19, 2026, to elect a new National Executive Committee, following regional elections in November to choose regional executives.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah made the appeal while addressing party members in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Constituency as part of his “Thank You Tour”.
He cautioned against sidelining grassroots party workers who played key roles in returning the NDC to power, stressing that internal elections should reward loyalty and commitment rather than financial influence.
You know the hardworking branch executives among you who supported the party to power. Those who have not been appointed yet, please ensure they are retained during the party’s internal primaries. A time will come when you will not get people to do party work if you allow people with money to replace hardworking executives, he said.
The NDC Chairman also urged party members to remain patient and focus on supporting the government’s broader transformational agenda, rather than prioritising personal gain.
He further warned supporters against being influenced by what he described as propaganda from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Be patient, pray and support the government; things will be better. Don’t be swayed by NPP propaganda. They are not happy we are in power, he added.
