One person has been reported dead and 16 others sustaining various injuries, following a road accident at Peki Tsame near Mawutor Inn on the Peki-Asikuma highway.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred after a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number GT 7012-24 reportedly suffered a rear tyre burst and somersaulted.

The GNFS, in a Facebook post yesterday, indicated that personnel from the Peki Fire Station, led by ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, swiftly responded to the scene and rescued the trapped victims.

“Personnel from the Peki Fire Station responded to a road traffic accident at Peki Tsame near Mawutor Inn on the Peki-Asikuma highway. The team, led by ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, rescued sixteen passengers (8 males, 7 females, and 1 child) who sustained varying degrees of injuries after a Toyota Hiace (GT 7012-24) suffered a rear tyre burst and somersaulted,” part of the statement read.

The Fire Service further indicated that all the victims were conveyed by the National Ambulance Service to the Peki Government Hospital for treatment.

It added that one victim later died at the hospital, while the others are reported to be in stable condition.
