The Jasikan District Police have arrested a 23-year-old man, Innocent Owusu, in connection with the brutal murder of his 59-year-old father, Peter Owusu, in a case that has shocked the Likpe Abrani community.
The incident occurred at the family’s residence on December 30, 2025. According to a police press release issued by the Oti Regional Command, the suspect fled the scene after the alleged act but was later tracked down through intelligence operations.
“Based on intelligence, he was arrested at his hideout in the forest of Abrani,” the statement read.
In a grim development, police confirmed that both the decapitated body and the severed head of the deceased were recovered. The remains have been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital Morgue for preservation and an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. No motive has been officially disclosed at this early stage of the inquiry.
In the release, the Oti Regional Police Command commended residents of Likpe Abrani for their swift assistance in locating and apprehending the suspect, highlighting the role of community cooperation in resolving serious crimes.
“The Command extends the condolences of the Police Administration to the bereaved family at this moment of grief,” added Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, the Regional Public Affairs Officer.
