President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will preside over a National Honours and Awards ceremony today, Monday, December 30, at the Accra International Conference Centre. This significant event marks one of his last official duties as he prepares to leave office.
The ceremony is set to recognize and celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional contributions and selfless service to Ghana.
According to a notification signed by Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, honorees are expected to be seated by 11 a.m. Formal or traditional attire, such as Kente, Fugu, or suits, has been specified as the dress code, reflecting both the solemnity and cultural richness of the occasion.
Each nominee is permitted to bring two family members to share in this momentous celebration. Personalized invitation cards bearing President Akufo-Addo’s signature have been issued to the honorees.
The National Honours and Awards ceremony is an esteemed platform that highlights the importance of national service and excellence. It acknowledges individuals whose outstanding achievements and dedication have significantly contributed to Ghana’s development.
Five distinct awards will be conferred during the event:
- Order of the Star and Eagles of Ghana
- Order of the Star of Ghana
- Order of the Volta
- The Medal for Gallantry
- The Grand Medal
This ceremony not only celebrates individual accomplishments but also underscores the values of service, patriotism, and national pride.
