Yendi, December 11, 2025 — A 52-member Special Operations Team from the Ghana Police Service has conducted a large-scale patrol exercise across the Yendi Municipality as part of ongoing efforts to curb rising criminal activities and improve public safety in the area.

Led by DSP Karim Mahama and ASP Bawah Abdul Jalil, the operation formed part of routine security measures initiated by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to combat robberies, kidnappings, drug-related offences, and other threats undermining socio-economic activities in Yendi.

Before deployment, personnel were briefed on teamwork, professionalism, vigilance, and adherence to operational standards.

Eight service vehicles and a Black Maria were used to support mobility and the potential transport of suspects.

The exercise covered both major highways and communities within the municipality. Acting on intelligence, the team conducted searches in several provision shops suspected to be connected to illicit drug peddling and contraband storage.

However, no incriminating materials were found during the operation.

Patrols were also extended to areas known for frequent robberies, including routes around Yendi Senior High School, Dagbon State Senior High School, and the Yendi Health Assistant School.

Students of the Health Assistant School confirmed recurring attacks along bushy pathways leading to the campus.

These high-risk locations were mapped, documented, and patrolled for enhanced monitoring and future security interventions.

ASP Abdul Jalil noted that the team remains committed to maintaining law and order in the municipality.

“As long as we are deployed here, we will continue to uphold our mandate with utmost dedication and professionalism to protect lives, institutions, and economic activities,” he emphasized.

The operation ended successfully without casualties, and the team has since returned to base awaiting further directives.
