The Mayor of Tamale Metropolis, Hon. Abubakari Adam Takoro, has held a high-level strategic meeting with the Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Professor Alidu Seidu, to deliberate on key developmental issues affecting residents of the metropolis.
The meeting, which took place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the MP’s office in Parliament House, Accra, focused on accelerating development within the Tamale business district and improving the overall quality of life for citizens.
Speaking after the engagement, Hon. Takoro said discussions centered on tackling the perennial water crisis, strengthening healthcare delivery, promoting youth empowerment, and enhancing security in the business hub of Tamale.
A major highlight of the meeting was the commitment made by Professor Alidu to provide a number of mechanized boreholes to ease the water challenges faced by communities within Tamale Central.
The MP also pledged to collaborate with the Ghana Water Company Limited to improve water distribution across the metropolis.
The two leaders further explored strategies to equip health facilities within Tamale Central with essential medical logistics to enhance service delivery.
They also discussed creating employment opportunities for the youth and promoting sustainable development through joint government initiatives.
Mayor Takoro reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to its key development priorities, job creation, infrastructure expansion, sanitation improvement, and market renovation, aimed at stimulating business growth and increasing internally generated revenue.
He appealed to the MP to continue supporting the Assembly’s projects and programmes designed to uplift the living standards of the people.
“Together, we are committed to driving the transformational agenda of Tamale and ensuring that our metropolis becomes a model of progress and prosperity,” the Mayor affirmed.
The meeting marks a renewed spirit of collaboration between the Metropolitan Assembly and the Member of Parliament in advancing the socio-economic development of the Tamale Metropolis.
