The victorious team from the University for Development Studies (UDS) arrived in Ghana on Sunday, October 5, following their historic triumph at the 2025 FISU World University Games.
The team was warmly welcomed at Kotoka International Airport by enthusiastic fans, students, family members, and government officials eager to celebrate their success.

Preparations are now underway for an official reception to honor the players and technical team for their outstanding performance on the global stage.
The team is scheduled to present the prestigious trophy to the President of the Republic of Ghana on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Presidency.

UDS made history by defeating the defending champions, Paulista University of Brazil, 2-1 in extra time to claim the coveted 2025 FISU World University Football Cup.
This marks the first time an African university has won the title, a milestone widely celebrated across the continent.

The victory has ignited nationwide celebrations and been hailed as a major inspiration for youth development in sports.
Many view UDS’s success as proof of Ghana’s rising capability to nurture world-class talent by combining academic rigor with sporting excellence.
