Nanton MP consoles bereaved family, appeals for calm after violent clash

The Member of Parliament for the Nanton Constituency, Hon. Dr. Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, has expressed deep sorrow over the violent incident that recently occurred in Nanton, which claimed the life of one resident, Seidu Ibrahim, and left others injured.

In a statement dated October 6, 2025, Dr. Abdul-Khaliq extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.

The MP revealed that he had personally visited the victims at the hospital, noting that some had already been treated and discharged, while one remained under medical care and was responding positively to treatment.

“I appeal to all residents of Nanton to remain calm and allow peace to prevail,” the MP urged. He cautioned against using the tragic event as a tool for division, emphasizing the need for unity and collective healing.

Dr. Abdul-Khaliq further called on the security agencies to handle the situation with utmost professionalism to restore calm and build confidence within the community.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering peace and development in Nanton, adding, “Together, let us stand united for peace and development in Nanton.”

The MP’s message comes amid growing concerns over recent disturbances in the area, with local leaders and security authorities working to maintain order and prevent further escalation.
