Accra, Ghana – April 18, 2025 — Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has expressed strong optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospects in the 2028 general elections, asserting that with renewed energy and strategic reforms, the party will reclaim power from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the future of the NPP, Dr. Amin Adam said, “The NPP will reclaim power in 2028 with diligent effort and a revitalized party foundation. We have traveled this journey before; and we will once again re-organize to come back stronger.”
He credited the Mike Oquaye-led committee for laying the groundwork for the party’s revival. “The Mike Oquaye Committee’s efforts have set us on the path to rebuilding our party and regaining power from the NDC. We thank them for the good job,” he said.
Dr. Amin Adam emphasized the need for constitutional reforms within the NPP, urging that changes should aim to empower grassroots members and ensure a more inclusive leadership selection process.
He called for reforms that recognize the contributions of all stakeholders—including current and former party executives, MPs, former MMDCEs, and other key actors in the party’s development.
“A process that is open and inclusive of all stakeholders is key to our victory,” he stressed.
In a bid to energize the party’s grassroots base, Dr. Amin Adam proposed that only members in good standing—those who pay dues and actively participate in party activities—be considered for government appointments when the NPP is in power. “Those who work hard for the party must be rewarded,” he stated.
He concluded with a rallying call to party faithful: “All hands must be on deck and ready for the electoral battle ahead of us in 2028. I call on members of the party to support the 9-member committee to craft meaningful reforms that benefit our party. By working together, we can build a stronger NPP and secure a brighter future for our country.”
Dr. Amin Adam’s remarks come amid ongoing internal consultations as the NPP looks to strengthen its ranks and chart a new course ahead of the next general elections.
