Accra, February 14, 2025 – The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has terminated the appointment of Mr. Kwadwo Gyamfi Osafo-Maafo as the Director of Cyber Security at the National Communications Authority (NCA).

The termination, which takes effect immediately, was communicated in an official letter signed by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Alexander Yaw Arphul.

According to the letter, Mr. Osafo-Maafo is directed to hand over his duties to the Acting Director-General of the NCA.

In accordance with the terms of his appointment, he will receive three months’ salary in lieu of notice.

While the letter did not explicitly state the reasons for the termination, the Ministry expressed gratitude for his service to the nation. The decision was also copied to the President at Jubilee House, Accra.

Mr. Osafo-Maafo has been a key figure in Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape, leading efforts to strengthen the country’s digital security infrastructure. His sudden dismissal raises questions about potential administrative changes within the sector.

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations has yet to issue any further statements regarding the decision or potential replacements for the role.

This development comes amid ongoing discussions about enhancing cybersecurity measures in Ghana, with the NCA playing a crucial role in regulating digital communications and cyber defense strategies.
