February 9, 2025 – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the headmaster of Piina Senior High School, Mr. Adams Mahama Issahaku, following allegations involving food items found in his official vehicle.

A directive issued by the Upper West Regional Director of Education, Razak K.Z. Abdul-Korah, dated February 7, 2025, confirmed that the interdiction was a procedural measure pending the outcome of a full-scale investigation.

According to the letter addressed to the headmaster, the alleged incident occurred on Thursday, February 6, 2025, during a trip from Piina Senior High School to Wa.

The letter emphasized that the interdiction does not imply guilt but serves to facilitate an impartial and thorough investigation into the matter.

Mr. Issahaku has been instructed to hand over the administration of the school, along with all school property in his possession, to the Upper West Regional Director of Education.

He is also expected to cooperate fully with the investigation and avoid any actions that could hinder the process.

The regional director assured that the headmaster would be notified of the investigation’s outcome and any subsequent decisions.

The letter was copied to key stakeholders, including the Director-General of GES, Accra, the Deputy Director-General (MS), and (Q&A), the Regional Minister for the Upper West Region, the District Chief Executive of Lambussie District Assembly, and the Board Chairman of Piina SHS.

Mr. Issahaku’s interdiction has sparked discussions among stakeholders in the education sector, with some calling for transparency in the investigation process to protect the integrity of the institution.

The interdiction highlights GES’s professed commitment to upholding accountability and ensuring that school administrators adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
