The Northern Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCo) has announced the appointment of Ing. John Okine Yamoah as its Acting Managing Director, effective February 6, 2025.
He succeeds Mr. Osman A. Ayuba, who held the position from July 2019 to February 5, 2025.
Ing. Yamoah brings nearly three decades of experience in the electricity distribution sector, establishing himself as a seasoned professional in network management.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Renewable Energy Technologies, both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has also completed an MBA program at Valley View University and is preparing to submit his thesis.
Prior to his new role, Ing. Yamoah served as NEDCo’s Director of Network Operations (DNO), where he played a significant role in stabilizing the company’s electricity supply network.
Since joining VRA/NED/NEDCo in 1995 as a young technician, he has risen through the ranks to become a Principal Technician Engineer and later Director of Network Operations.
His career has been marked by extensive operational experience, effective people management, and a commitment to excellence.
Ing. Yamoah has been a certified member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers since 2004, contributing to advancements in electricity distribution, network planning, and revenue mobilization.
In his new capacity, Ing. Yamoah aims to drive operational efficiency through innovative strategies, enhanced stakeholder engagement, and rigorous financial management.
He envisions positioning NEDCo as a financially stable company attractive to investors while delivering reliable services to the public.
NEDCo has called on all stakeholders, including staff, customers, suppliers, and development partners, to support Ing. Yamoah as he takes on this new responsibility.
In a statement issued by NEDCo’s Corporate Communications Department, it underscores the company’s commitment to progress and service excellence under Ing. Yamoah’s leadership.
