African-Americans, Ghanaians collaborate to build ‘Sanbra City’ in Tema, Ghana

In a landmark initiative aimed at reconnecting Africa with its diaspora, African Americans and Ghanaians are partnering to develop Sanbra City, a 300-acre housing and community project in Tema, Greater Accra Region.

Spearheaded by Earn Your Leisure co-founders Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings, activist ChakaBars, and Ghanaian developers Alvin Bekoe, Kwame Blay, and Tuyee Yeboah, the project reflects a powerful transcontinental collaboration.

The name “Sanbra,” derived from the Akan word for “return” or “come back,” symbolizes the project’s mission to bridge the gap between Africa and its diaspora.

The first phase of the development, aptly named “The Cascades,” spans 30 acres and features competitively priced luxury homes alongside community-focused infrastructure and cutting-edge amenities.

Construction is already underway, with ambitious plans to deliver 421 residential units and 24 commercial units by October 2027. As part of an accelerated schedule, 40 homes will be ready by March 2025.

“The Cascades” offers a wide array of modern amenities, including a community center with a pool and sports facilities, bicycle lanes, a grocery mart, and shared workspaces.

This project goes beyond the typical residential development, aiming to create a vibrant community hub that fosters inclusivity and connectivity.

By providing luxury housing, community amenities, and innovative infrastructure, Sanbra City is set to be a shining example of collaboration between African Americans and Ghanaians.

With the project’s completion expected in the next few years, Sanbra City is poised to redefine urban living in Ghana, offering residents a unique blend of modern comfort and cultural connection.
