Tamale, Northern Region – The Northern Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended the Tamale North Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Fuseini Sadat, following allegations of misconduct.
This decision was announced in a letter dated January 25, 2025, signed by the Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba.
The suspension follows a petition filed on January 20, 2025, by concerned polling station executives of the constituency.
The petition accused Mr. Sadat of multiple breaches of the party’s constitution, including violence, intimidation, and misuse of party resources. Among the specific allegations are:
- Shooting and injuring a polling station organizer, Mr. Karim Alhassan, on January 17, 2025.
- Threatening constituency executives at gunpoint during a committee meeting.
- Leading armed thugs to seize a party vehicle from the driver of the parliamentary candidate.
- Coordinating a break-in at a private business center, stealing valuable items.
- Making false accusations and using abusive language against party leadership on media platforms.
- Engaging in other acts of violence and intimidation against party members.
The Regional Executive Committee, after reviewing the petition and supporting evidence, unanimously resolved to suspend Mr. Sadat with immediate effect, pending further investigations by the party’s Regional Disciplinary Committee.
The letter directed Mr. Sadat to refrain from any party-related activities during the suspension and to hand over all party assets in his possession. Failure to comply with these directives, the letter warned, could result in additional disciplinary actions.
The matter has been referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and recommendations. Mr. Sadat is expected to cooperate fully to ensure a speedy resolution.
The Regional Chairman expressed confidence in the disciplinary process and urged Mr. Sadat to respect the party’s procedures.
This development underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding its constitution.
Further updates will be provided as the case unfolds.
