‘Ghana has been stripped naked by looters’ says Krontihene of Akyem Asoum

The Krontihene of Akyem Asoum, Nana Boadi Amponim Abodade III, has delivered a scathing critique of Ghana’s current state, describing it as one of suffering and mismanagement under President Akufo-Addo’s administration.

In an interview with GHOne TV, he lamented that the country has been “stripped naked” by what he referred to as looters, leaving the nation bleeding and in desperate need of rescue.

“Ghana has been stripped naked; mother Ghana is bleeding,” Nana Boadi declared.

He likened the nation’s predicament to the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:29, emphasising the urgency for redemption and restoration.

“The robbers have stolen all the goodies. But a Good Samaritan has come to rescue her, put her in a healthy and happy situation, and recover the loot that the robbers took.”

Nana Boadi expressed optimism about former President John Mahama’s potential return to power, describing it as divine intervention.

“We thank God that the good Lord is about to give the mantle to President John Mahama,” he said, stressing that Mahama’s leadership could help revive the country’s fortunes.

Reflecting on President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, Nana Boadi criticised the missed opportunities and poor governance that, in his view, characterised the administration.

“He had so much revenue, so much he could have done for this country, but he failed,” he lamented.

The chief revealed that many traditional leaders share his sentiments about the outgoing administration.

“A good friend of mine, who is also a chief, told me once, ‘Let’s see if he will come around and instruct chiefs to wake up to greet him.’ It’s not a good legacy,” he said.

Nana Boadi expressed hope for better governance in the future.

“We pray we don’t get another Akufo-Addo to be president of Ghana,” he stated.
