We’ll fiercely challenge seats declared at Police Training School – NDC

The Deputy Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Loh, has stated that the party is prepared to vigorously contest the results of three parliamentary results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Tesano.

The Electoral Commission, on Thursday, December 12, declared the parliamentary results for Akwatia, Fanteakwa North, and Suhum constituencies in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after a recollation process conducted at the NPTS.

However, the NDC raised serious concerns about the legality of the process and the venue for these declarations, arguing that it contravenes established procedures and regulations.

In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, December 16, George Loh expressed the NDC’s firm stance on the matter during a discussion with the show’s host, Bernard Avle.

Loh highlighted the NDC’s contention that the Greater Accra Regional EC office overstepped its jurisdiction by making these declarations, which, according to him, should have been handled within the respective regions of the constituencies in question.

Loh further emphasised that the party considers the declarations to be illegal and has resolved to challenge them through the appropriate legal channels.

The point we are making is that we were invited by the EC to the National Police Training School, and we went there and we waited, and we were of the view that even if the process is completed, it cannot be taken out of the respective regions because it is not in tandem with the law.

An illegality is an illegality, and for that reason, we will be going to court. All those declarations done at the Police Training School are illegal and we will fight till the very end. We will fight them in court.
