Tamale, Ghana – Dr. Abdul Rahaman Karim, widely known as Kpala, has officially announced his intention to contest for the position of Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
A seasoned academic and dedicated party member, Dr. Karim’s bid is already generating attention within the party’s grassroots and leadership ranks, with many citing his competence, experience, and loyalty to the NPP as solid reasons to support his candidacy.
Dr. Karim’s journey is marked by academic excellence and unwavering political commitment. He began his basic education in Yendi before proceeding to Vittin Senior High School in Tamale. He then enrolled at the University for Development Studies (UDS), where he earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Agricultural Science Education.
Driven by a passion for knowledge and community service, he advanced further to obtain a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Horticulture and later earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Science Education, all at UDS.

Professionally, Dr. Karim has distinguished himself in academia. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Science Education at the Faculty of Education, UDS.
His leadership within the university reflects his deep organizational abilities, strategic thinking, and commitment to capacity building, all critical traits for a regional party secretary.
Dr. Karim is no stranger to party activism and organizational politics. He was a member of the NPP’s 2024 Northern Regional Campaign Team, playing a significant role in coordinating and strategizing for the party’s electoral success.
He also currently serves as the TESCON patron of the UDS Nyankpala campus and is a senior member of the NPP Northern Regional Communication Team.
His involvement in student politics dates back to his undergraduate days when he served as the Communications Director for TESCON, the party’s vibrant student wing.
Many NPP supporters argue that Dr. Karim’s blend of academic leadership and political activism makes him the ideal candidate for the Regional Secretary position.
His strong ties to both the youth and the intellectual wing of the party, his communication skills, and his strategic acumen place him in a unique position to help reorganize, energize, and steer the NPP in the Northern Region toward greater electoral victories.
