Accra, Ghana – December 28, 2024: On Friday, December 27, 2024, the President commissioned the Accra STEM Academy, a state-of-the-art institution designed to advance education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Speaking at the event, the President described the Academy as a testament to Ghana’s commitment to empowering its youth through quality education.

The Academy is proof of our belief that education, especially in STEM, holds the key to unlocking the full potential of our nation, the President said.

The President emphasized the critical role of STEM in addressing global challenges, noting how technology is reshaping industries such as healthcare, agriculture, transportation, and education.

For Ghana to thrive in this modern era, we must equip our young people with the tools they need to succeed. STEM education is not a choice it is a necessity, he stated.

The Accra STEM Academy is envisioned as a space where young minds will be inspired to innovate and address future challenges.

“This institution will inspire our students to dream big, think critically, and solve the problems of tomorrow. We envision a Ghana where our students lead breakthroughs in robotics, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology,” the President added.

The commissioning of the Academy is part of a broader national agenda to prioritize STEM education. The government is also developing 20 STEM centers and 10 model STEM Senior High Schools across the country.

These institutions aim to provide hands-on learning experiences with cutting-edge facilities, including programs in coding and robotics, to prepare students for the demands of the 21st century.

The President concluded by urging stakeholders to support these initiatives, emphasizing the transformative potential of STEM education for Ghana’s future.

The Accra STEM Academy has already garnered attention as a flagship institution poised to nurture the next generation of Ghanaian innovators and leaders in science and technology.
