Tamale Kukuo market demolished to pave way for 24-hour economy market construction

2229

Tamale Metropolitan Assembly has demolished the Kukuo market to pave way for the construction of a modern market.

Speaking to the host of WakeUp Tamale, Addy Kennedy Edem, on Radio Tamale, the public relations officer of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Mr. Amadu Mustapha Zakari explained that the demolishing exercise was to pave way for the construction of a modern 24-hour economy market at Kukuo which is expected to be completed in 30 months.

The Mayor Alhaji Adam Abubakari Takoro last week cut sod for the construction of the modern 24-hour economy market at Kukuo a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis in the Northern Region.

The facility, the first to be rolled out under the government’s flagship 24-hour economy policy, will include a day-care centre, restaurants, police and fire stations, a clinic, cold storage units, a lorry station, shops, offices for market management and a Women Development Bank.

Mr. Zakari is confident that the construction of the 24-hour economy market in the area will boost business activities and improve the livelihoods of the people in the metropolis.

The initiative is part of the government 24-hours economy policy intended to transform the nation into self reliant export-driven and competitive economy by promoting 24\7 operation and to boost the economic well being of the people
