Accra, Ghana — President John Dramani Mahama has made significant appointments to strengthen the nation’s security framework, reflecting his commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and enhancing national security operations.
In a statement issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Mr. Prosper Douglas Bani, former Chief of Staff and Minister for the Interior, has been appointed as the National Security Advisor to the President. Mr. Bani brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role.
Additionally, DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as the National Security Coordinator. His role will involve implementing a cohesive strategy across all security initiatives to address emerging threats and enhance national safety measures.
COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.) has been appointed as the Director of Operations at the Presidency. His extensive experience in operational security will be key in overseeing the effectiveness of various security measures.
In another appointment, Charles Kipo has been named the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau. Mr. Kipo will focus on bolstering intelligence operations to ensure the nation’s security infrastructure remains robust.
The appointments signal President Mahama’s proactive approach to tackling national security challenges and safeguarding the well-being of Ghanaians.
