My intervention saved leg of NDC supporter in Tolon from amputation — Dr Seidu Fiter

  • My intervention saved leg of NDC supporter in Tolon from amputation — Dr Seidu Fiter

An aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Tolon Constituency Secretary position, Dr. Seidu Fiter, has disclosed how his timely intervention saved a dedicated female party supporter from having her leg amputated following a road accident.

According to Dr. Fiter, the victim, identified as Latifa, sustained severe leg injuries during an accident that occurred while supporters were rallying to file nomination papers for Dr. Osman Tahidu Damba, the party’s 2024 Tolon Parliamentary Candidate during the 2024 campaign season.

Speaking on Radio Tamale’s evening political program Yelvuhi Dundongni on Thursday night, Dr. Fiter revealed that Latifa faced financial constraints that almost resulted in doctors amputating her injured leg.

However, the situation took a positive turn after the issue was brought to his attention.

“If not for my intervention, Latifa, the lady who was involved in an accident on the day of the filing of Dr. Damba could have had her injured leg amputated. MahamaCare Fund came in and supported her with GHS 10,500. Today, she is completely healed and able to walk again,” Dr. Fiter told host Alhassan D. Baba.

Recapturing Tolon Seat

Reflecting on strategies required for the NDC to reclaim the Tolon parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Fiter emphasized the critical need for party leadership to pay closer attention to grassroots grievances and local affairs within the constituency.

He warned that neglecting such domestic issues could severely damage the party's electoral fortunes and voter trust in the constituency.

“If they had amputated her leg in addition to the killing of our party supporter in Nyankpala on Election Day, tell me who in the constituency would have voted for our party again?” he queried.

He further added: “Her injured leg was deteriorating, I was told her family was not happy with the party.”
