Tamale, Oct. 22, - The Director of Field Operations of the United Party (UP), Hopeson Adorye, has dismissed reports suggesting that the party’s founder and leader, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, would return to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) only if he were made its flagbearer.
Speaking to Mumuni Yirifa Yunus on Radio Tamale’s, Ashahara Nye Dini programme, Mr Adorye described the reports as baseless, insisting that Mr Kyerematen had never made such a statement.
“Alan will never join NPP, not today and not tomorrow,” he said.
Reports circulating on some social media platforms have suggested that Mr Kyerematen would consider returning to the NPP if the party invited him to lead it as its flagbearer.
However, Mr Adorye said the reports were either intended to tarnish Mr Kyerematen’s image or to create an opportunity for people to criticise him.
“Alan has never said anywhere. There is no audio, there is no video, and there is no write-up from him stating that he will only come to the NPP if they make him a flagbearer,” he said.
He added that Mr Kyerematen had no intention of returning to the NPP, stressing that the United Party was established to stay.
