The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Northern Region has announced filing fees for prospective candidates seeking to contest various positions in the party’s upcoming Constituency Elections.
According to a notice issued by the Regional Elections and IT Directorate, candidates contesting the position of Regional Chairman will pay a filing fee of GH¢5,000, while candidates for Vice Chairman, Secretary and Organizer will each pay GH¢3,000.
The filing fee for the position of Constituency Communication Officer has been set at GH¢2,500, while candidates seeking to become Treasurer, Zongo Caucus Coordinator, and Youth/Women Organizer will each pay GH¢1,500.
Candidates contesting as Deputies and other Youth Representatives will each pay GH¢1,000, while the eight other elected positions attract a filing fee of GH¢500.
The directive also provides concessions for female candidates and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Female candidates and PWDs are to pay 50 percent of the prescribed filing fees for all positions, except the Women’s Organizer and Deputy Women’s Organizer positions.
The notice further states that female candidates with disabilities will also pay half of the applicable filing fee when contesting the positions of Women’s Organizer and Deputy Women’s Organizer.
The announcement was signed by Dr. Arnold Mashud Abubakari, Director of Elections and IT for the NDC in the Northern Region.
The filing fee schedule forms part of preparations towards the party’s constituency-level elections, which will determine the next crop of Constituency executives responsible for steering the affairs of the NDC in the Northern Region.
