Ghanaians should be grateful Mahama returned to power – Tanko-Computer

  • Ghanaians should be grateful Mahama returned to power – Tanko-Computer

Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Rashid Tanko-Computer, has urged Ghanaians to appreciate the return of President John Dramani Mahama, arguing that his victory in the 2024 presidential election helped avert what he described as a potential collapse of the country’s educational system.

Tanko-Computer said the challenges confronting Ghana’s education sector had become particularly evident in the period leading up to the 2024 elections, with parents expressing concerns about the prolonged periods their children spent at home.

He said the situation had affected families across the country, including his own, and argued that the return of Mahama to the presidency was critical to addressing some of the challenges within the education sector.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 Ghana on Tuesday, September 8, Tanko-Computer maintained that without the change in administration, the country’s educational system could have faced even more serious difficulties.

“Ghanaians should be grateful for voting President John Dramani Mahama back into office; otherwise, our educational system would have collapsed. Parents were talking about how long their children spend in the house, and I suffered the same thing.

“I had to find someone to teach my child in the house because they were always home for three months.

“When they rolled out the Free SHS, we told them about infrastructure. So when we introduced these e-blocks, they were meant to help bridge the gap in access, but they came and stopped them. They didn’t continue with the e-blocks for 8 years.”
