The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will begin the next phase of preparations for its 2026 national officers’ elections with balloting for positions on the ballot paper on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

The balloting will take place at the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra, following the successful completion of the vetting of aspirants.

According to the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), the balloting will determine the positions of the cleared aspirants on the ballot paper ahead of the elections.

The specific times for the various positions will be communicated directly to the aspirants, who are expected to participate either in person or through duly authorised representatives.

The development follows the conclusion of the vetting exercise conducted from August 31 to September 3, 2026, by the National Officers Election Vetting Committee.

In all, 47 aspirants contested across nine national officer positions and appeared before the Vetting Committee.

In a statement dated September 5, the NPP said, “Balloting for positions on the ballot paper will take place on Wednesday, 9th September 2026, at the NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra.”

The Committee subsequently recommended all 47 aspirants as suitable and eligible to contest the respective positions for which they filed their nominations.

The cleared aspirants comprise four candidates for National Chairman, 13 for National Vice-Chairperson, four for General Secretary and four for National Treasurer.

Eight aspirants were cleared for National Organiser, while six were cleared for National Youth Organiser.

Two aspirants were cleared for National Women’s Organiser, five for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and one for National Communications Director.

The NOEC has urged all aspirants and their representatives to cooperate fully with the Committee to ensure an orderly and transparent balloting process.

It also said it remains committed to conducting the remaining stages of the elections in a manner that is “fair, transparent, orderly and credible.”

The Committee further called on aspirants, their supporters and party members to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the unity and integrity of the NPP.
