MTN Ghana says it will invest US$1.1 billion over the next three years to expand its network, improve service quality and strengthen digital infrastructure across the country.
The announcement was made at a Media and Stakeholder forum in Tamale on Friday, 14 August 2026, as part of activities marking the company’s 30th anniversary under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.”
The forum brought together media practitioners, regulators, customers and representatives of public institutions from the Northern, Upper East, Savannah and North East regions.

Focus on connectivity
Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Afotor, Senior Manager for Base Station Subsystems Implementation and Radio/Core Network Implementation at MTN Ghana, thanked stakeholders for their continued support and partnership.

He said the planned investment would focus on network expansion, infrastructure upgrades, service quality and resilience.
Mr Afotor said the company’s three decades of operations had been guided by efforts to build a trusted digital platform that connects people, supports businesses and contributes to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Digital services
Kwami Asaye Akude, Customer Experience Manager for Northern Ghana, said innovation remained central to MTN’s operations. He highlighted the MTN mobile application, saying it had made transactions easier and safer for customers by providing access to a range of services through digital platforms.
The forum included representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Journalists Association, the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and other stakeholder organisations.
Sustainability drive
MTN Ghana’s Acting Senior Manager for Corporate Communications, Efua Falconer, also announced the company’s 2026 Sustainability Month.
The initiative, themed “Together for a Sustainable Future: Small Actions, Big Impact,” calls on employees, businesses and stakeholders to make sustainability part of their daily activities.

Ms Falconer said the programme marked a shift from the company’s annual Sustainability Week to a month-long campaign designed to increase awareness and encourage practical action across MTN’s operations and the communities it serves.
She said small but consistent actions could help protect Ghana’s future while supporting the company’s long-term growth.
