Residents of the North East Gonja District in the Savannah Region have welcomed new education and health infrastructure after the official commissioning of a two‑unit classroom block and a set of nurses’ quarters.
The facilities were opened jointly by the Member of Parliament for Salaga North, Hon. Alhassan Mumuni and the North East Gonja District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Mumin Ewuntomah, in a ceremony attended by local leaders and community members.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Mumuni said the projects reflect a continued commitment to improving access to quality education and healthcare across the constituency. He argued that modern classroom facilities and decent accommodation for health staff would boost teaching and learning outcomes and improve retention of health professionals in rural postings.
“We prioritise investments that directly improve the lives of our people,” the MP said, adding that better facilities help attract and keep qualified teachers and nurses in remote communities.
Mr Ewuntomah described the interventions as significant for service delivery in the district. He said the nurses’ quarters, in particular, would make it easier for health workers to accept and remain in rural postings, while the classroom block would provide a safer, more conducive learning environment for pupils.

Community leaders praised the initiatives and urged continued investment in local infrastructure, including roads, water supply and additional school facilities. Residents said the new buildings address long‑standing gaps and would contribute to improved education and health outcomes.
Officials said the commissioning is part of broader efforts to bridge infrastructure deficits and strengthen public services in North East Gonja through targeted, sustained investment.
