Kakpagyili Residents Worried as Road Works Stall

  • Kakpagyili Residents Worried as Road Works Stall

Residents of Kakpagyili in the Tamale South Constituency are demanding answers after construction on the community’s road project came to an unexpected halt, raising fresh concerns over transportation and safety.

The rehabilitation work began some months ago and was widely welcomed by motorists and residents who had long struggled with the poor state of the road. Many believed the project would finally ease movement in the area and reduce the long-running challenges caused by potholes and rough surfaces.

Before the project started, road users frequently complained of flat tyres, vehicle damage and accidents linked to the bad condition of the road. The work had offered hope that those problems would soon be resolved.

However, residents now say the project has stopped, leaving sections of the road unfinished and in worse condition, especially during the rainy season. Drivers, commuters and pedestrians are said to be finding it increasingly difficult to use the stretch safely.

Community members say they have not been given any explanation for the suspension of work, leaving uncertainty over whether the project has been delayed or abandoned altogether.

Some residents say the situation is affecting daily life and pushing up transport costs, while drivers are spending more on repairs because of the poor road surface.

They are therefore calling on the relevant authorities and contractors to clarify the status of the project and resume work as soon as possible. Residents believe completing the road will improve safety, ease movement and support development in Kakpagyili.
