Mining firm Newmont Corporation has announced a total fiscal contribution of GH₵12.822 billion to the Government of Ghana for the 2025 financial year.

The company said the payments were made to state institutions including the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Forestry Commission and the Ministry of Finance.

According to a breakdown of the figures, corporate tax accounted for GH₵5.382 billion, while capital gains tax amounted to GH₵3.025 billion, following the sale of its Akyem Mine in April 2025.

Mineral royalties contributed GH₵1.628 billion, with carried interest standing at GH₵1.832 billion.

Other statutory payments included GH₵514 million in Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) taxes, GH₵434 million in withholding tax, GH₵15 million as forestry levy and GH₵2 million in property rates.

Newmont indicated that it continues to invest in socio-economic development through infrastructure, environmental and community-based initiatives.

Among these is a partnership with the Ministry of Roads and Highways to rehabilitate the 46-kilometre Sunyani–Ntotroso–Akyerensua road, which links parts of the Bono and Ahafo regions.

The company also supported the “Tree for Life” initiative, a national programme aimed at restoring degraded lands and promoting sustainable land use.

Commenting on the company’s performance, the Country Manager, Danquah Addo-Yobo, said the company remains committed to responsible mining and transparency in its operations.

He noted that Newmont continues to prioritise compliance with statutory obligations while contributing to local economic development.

Newmont is one of Ghana’s leading gold producers and a major contributor to domestic revenue mobilisation.
