Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George has assured Ghanaians that the challenges experienced during the 2021–2023 SIM registration exercise will not be repeated.

Speaking on The KeyPoints, he emphasised that the new process will be technology-driven, eliminating long queues and manual bottlenecks that previously frustrated users.

The queues you saw and the difficulties you had between 2021 and 2023 will never happen again, he stated on March 21.

The Ningo-Prampram MP added that the system is designed around “the comfort of the consumer and the convenience that we can offer.”

According to him, the previous exercise failed to achieve full biometric verification due to lack of integration with the National Identification Authority database.

This process is to cure the deficiencies in the system, he explained, stressing that real-time verification will now be central to registration.

He revealed that the new system will allow users to complete registration via mobile apps or USSD without physically visiting centres.

The consumer is not going to be driven by procurement, but by convenience, he added, insisting that the new approach marks a significant shift in how digital services are delivered in Ghana.
