Thirty apprentices in the Mion District of the Northern Region have received start-up tools and industrial machines under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) to support them in establishing their own businesses after completing their training.
At a brief ceremony held in Sang to hand over the equipment, the District Chief Executive for Mion, Hamza Azindoo Moabalyn, said the initiative forms part of government’s efforts to equip young people with employable skills and empower them to become self-reliant through entrepreneurship.
He explained that the programme was designed to reduce youth unemployment and underemployment by providing practical training and the necessary tools for beneficiaries to start their own ventures and contribute to the local economy.
The Member of Parliament for Mion, Alhaji Misbaw Adam Mahama, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the tools to improve their livelihoods.
He also assured those who were not selected in the first phase of the programme to remain patient, indicating that efforts were underway to include them in the subsequent phases.
