Grassroot unhappiness: Mustapha Gbande urge supporters to remain calm and united

87

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has called on party members to remain calm and united despite growing concerns expressed by some supporters.

In a message addressed to party members and sympathisers, Mr. Gbande acknowledged that several commentaries circulating in recent days reflect genuine frustrations among sections of the party’s base.

According to him, the leadership of the party takes such concerns seriously and remains committed to addressing the grievances of members.

Even if it is the concern of a single member, we are accountable for addressing it, let alone the sentiments of a group of committed brothers and sisters who have worked together to bring us this far, he stated.

Mr. Gbande, however, suggested that some of the narratives surrounding the concerns appear to be influenced by individuals sympathetic to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who he said are attempting to exploit the frustrations of NDC supporters.

He assured party members that their concerns are continually being considered as part of internal processes aimed at making adjustments, correcting mistakes and implementing strategic realignments.

According to him, the difficulties currently being discussed within party circles are temporary and should not lead members to abandon the party’s principles.

Mr. Gbande admitted that certain actions by some government appointees may not fully align with the party’s expectations, but urged supporters to exercise patience while party leadership addresses the issues.

When it feels as though our hopes have been dashed due to perceived betrayals, it is natural to feel aggrieved. However, it is important to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and allow time for matters to unfold, he said.

He further urged party members to remain measured in their reactions and avoid actions that could give political opponents an advantage.

Mr. Gbande expressed confidence that the party would overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger.

Giving up on our beliefs would amount to surrendering our future. Staying focused and strong through these challenges will ultimately assure us of victory,
