The Hon. Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has received the final report of the Gbenyiri Mediation Committee, aimed at resolving inter-communal conflicts between the Lobi/Birifors and Gonja communities in the Savannah Region.
The Committee, established in September 2025, was tasked with fostering cooperation and peaceful coexistence between the communities. The report is expected to serve as a roadmap for rebuilding relationships, tolerance, and coexistence.

In a statement, Hon Muntaka Mubarak praised the Committee’s efforts and expressed the government’s readiness to implement the report’s recommendations. He also thanked development partners for their support and appealed for their continued assistance in rebuilding social cohesion in the Gbinyiri Community.
The Minister commended the Committee, led by Mr Emmanuel Bombande, for their hard work in producing the report, which is expected to bring lasting peace and stability to the Sawla, Tuna Kalba area.

Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Bombande, thanked the President, the Minister for the Interior, the Overlord of Gonja, and other stakeholders for their support, noting that in conflict resolution, establishing peace entails a lot.
He urged the government to implement the recommendations and establish a roadmap and monitoring mechanism to ensure the implementation of the report.
