ORAL: The politicians are playing games with us – Agyemang-Duah

In an interview with 3news, the governance expert expressed concern about what he sees as a lack of clarity, consistency, and transparency from key political actors in addressing corruption particularly among the two dominant parties, NDC and NPP.

“The politicians are playing games with us. Ghanaians deserve transparency and straightforward communication,” he stated.

He said the politician in opposition accuses those in government of corruption and usually promises to prosecute persons involved in corrupt practices when they win power, but when they are given the nod, they do nothing to the alleged offenders which he describes as worrying.

The “ORAL” issue has sparked intense public and political debate for sometime now, with differing interpretations and responses from prominent figures across the political divide. Critics argue that the mixed messaging has only deepened confusion and fueled speculation among citizens.

Professor Agyemang-Duah warned that such political maneuvering risks eroding public confidence in leadership and democratic institutions.

According to him, when political leaders fail to communicate clearly and honestly on matters of public interest, it undermines accountability and weakens trust in the democratic process.

He called on politicians to rise above partisan considerations and provide direct, unambiguous explanations to the Ghanaian public.
