A 14 year old basic six pupil has allegedly been defiled by a believed to be about 50 years old in Tamale in the northern region.

The victim Fatima Alhassan, not her real name is currently confined to her home and risks dropping out of school following the traumatic ordeal.

Assase News has gathered that the suspect attempted to abort the pregnancy that is less than a year at a nearby health facility, further worsening the young girl’s physical and emotional condition.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed is said to be married with three wives. In an interview with Asaase News, the visibly distressed teenager recounted the painful moments she suffered at the hands of the man old enough to be her grandfather.

She said the suspect allegedly lured her into his room with GHC 30 and later gave her GHC 40 after another sexual encounter. She now remains indoors whiles uncertainty surrounds her future.

The victim’s father has expressed anger and disappointment over the situation, alleging that the suspect is trying to shield himself by hiding behind some chiefs in the northern region. Meanwhile the northern regional police command has since picked up the suspect to assist in investigation.
