The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is set to officially launch and fully implement the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a partnership initiative aimed at modernizing fire safety regulation across the country.
AFCAS is an online system designed to streamline fire safety checks for homes, shops, factories, offices, and public buildings. It replaces slow, paper-based processes with a technology-driven platform intended to be accessible for all users.
According to a statement from the GNFS, when fully operational, AFCAS will serve as the main platform for public interaction with the Service. The system is expected to make fire safety compliance faster, more transparent, and easier to track.
The platform will also help businesses, property owners, and developers understand fire safety requirements, allow efficient scheduling of inspections, and improve communication between applicants and the GNFS.
Additionally, AFCAS will enable real-time monitoring of safety compliance, facilitate early identification of fire risks, and support data-driven planning to prevent fires and enhance fire safety nationwide.
The GNFS stated that by using an automated system, AFCAS will help reduce unfair practices and ensure uniform application of fire safety rules, which it said will help build trust and confidence in fire safety regulation.
The Service is encouraging the public, property owners, and businesses to embrace and use AFCAS when it launches, emphasizing that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility.
The upcoming launch forms part of the GNFS’s commitment to professionalism, innovation, and effective service delivery in protecting lives and property.
